“I have been teaching at Coffey Music and at my home for 30 years. I graduated from Towson State University with a degree in Piano Performance. Upon graduation, I received the “Most Outstanding Musician” award. Soon after, I became a teacher and director for 6 years of the Yamaha Music program (for 4-6 year olds) at the Towson Preparatory Division. Many of those students continued on to take private piano lessons in my studio through their high school years. I teach students of all ages and levels and have had many students go on to major in music and become wonderful music teachers in schools across the country.
Learning music should be fun no matter what level or for what reason the student is taking lessons. I teach a complete foundation of music with many games and techniques that keep the student entertained and wanting to learn more. We have several group lessons a year where we work on performing and play music theory games. They learn so much by working together, too. And, at the end of the year, students play in a recital that has a different theme every year.
I am also on staff at McDaniel College as the instrumental accompanist and perform throughout Carroll County and other areas with many students and faculty. I accompany many musicians all over the County for various competitions, auditions, and recordings. I adore teaching piano and watching the progress and love of music bloom in each student. I live in Carroll County with my husband and my youngest son who plays piano and French horn. My oldest son is a professional musician living in Miami, Florida.”
